Prince's Deputy receives the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of Athar Association

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dareen and Tarout Island Development Foundation, patronized today (Tuesday) at the Emirate headquarters the signing of memoranda of understanding between the Foundation, the National Center for Environmental Compliance, the National Center for Wildlife, and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification. The MoUs aim to strengthen cooperation in environmental protection and sustainability, develop vegetation cover and wildlife, and improve environmental compliance across projects and activities on the islands.

His Royal Highness the Deputy Governor emphasized that protecting the environment and preserving natural resources are key aspects of the development of Dareen and Tarout Islands. He highlighted the importance of integrated efforts and the exchange of expertise and data to achieve a balance between development and environmental conservation and support the implementation of sustainable projects in accordance with environmental requirements and standards.

Eng. Ahmed bin Salman Al Badr, CEO of the Dareen and Tarout Island Development Foundation, explained that the MoUs aim to strengthen cooperation in protecting and sustaining the environment on Dareen and Tarout Islands by developing vegetation cover, particularly mangrove forests; protecting biodiversity and natural coastal and marine habitats; and rehabilitating environmentally significant sites. They also cover coordination on environmental studies and surveys, the exchange of data and expertise, the implementation of awareness and training programs, improving compliance with environmental standards and requirements across projects and activities, and supporting responses to environmental incidents and pollution, contributing to sustainable development on Dareen and Tarout Islands.

The MoUs seek to unify efforts and integrate the roles of relevant entities in protecting the environment and natural resources on Dareen and Tarout Islands, improving environmental sustainability, and supporting development projects that comply with environmental requirements.
