His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, launched today, Tuesday, at his office at the Governorate’s headquarters, a number of development, investment, and community projects in Al Qatif Governorate, with a total value exceeding SAR 900 million, in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubair, Mayor of the Eastern Province.

The projects are part of the Eastern Province Municipality’s efforts to develop infrastructure, improve road efficiency, expand green spaces, develop municipal assets, and create distinctive destinations that enhance quality of life and support economic activity in the governorate.

His Royal Highness emphasized that the support and attention extended to the municipal sector by the wise leadership have contributed to the implementation of high-quality development projects that improve services, advance urban development, and enhance infrastructure efficiency, positively impacting quality of life across the cities and governorates of the Eastern Province. His Royal Highness stressed the importance of continuing to implement projects according to the highest standards of quality and efficiency, strengthening the investment environment, providing facilities and services that meet the needs of residents and visitors, and supporting sustainable development.

His Excellency Eng. Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubair affirmed that the launch of these projects reflects the significant support and attention extended to Al Qatif Governorate, expressing his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Eastern Province Governor for his continued support and commitment to following up on development projects that enhance quality of life and contribute to sustainable development across the region.

Al-Jubair explained that the projects demonstrate the integration of efforts to translate development plans into tangible, high-quality projects that positively impact residents and visitors. They combine infrastructure development, expansion of green spaces, support for investment activity, and efforts to enhance quality of life, strengthening Al Qatif’s appeal as an investment and tourism destination in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The projects included the opening of three major road development projects with a combined length of 9,500 meters and a total cost exceeding SAR 178 million. The projects aim to improve traffic flow, facilitate accessibility, strengthen connectivity across the governorate, reduce travel times, and enhance safety and the urban landscape.

The projects included the development of the first phase of King Abdulaziz Street, extending 2,500 meters with a width of 60 meters; the first phase of Riyadh Street, extending 3,000 meters with a width of 40 meters; and North Al-Nasrah Street, extending 4,000 meters with a width of 40 meters. Development works include paving, lighting, pedestrian paths, stormwater drainage, directional signage, parking areas, rest areas, landscaping and urban beautification elements, as well as a dedicated route for public transport buses.

The projects also included the opening of 15 parks across several neighborhoods in the governorate, covering a total area of more than 71,000 square meters, at a cost of SAR 13 million. The parks feature green spaces, a variety of trees and shrubs, walking paths, children’s play areas, seating areas, lighting and visual enhancement elements, and supporting facilities and services. These projects aim to expand green spaces, provide safe and accessible recreational areas for residents, promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles, improve the urban environment, and strengthen social cohesion and quality of life.

The launch also included three distinctive investment projects with total investments of SAR 720 million. The largest is the Prince Sultan Cultural Center, with an investment value of SAR 500 million and an area exceeding 153,000 square meters, designed as an integrated destination for cultural, tourism, entertainment, and event activities. The projects also include the development of the Thursday Traditional Market, with an investment of SAR 120 million across an area of 24,000 square meters, transforming it into a commercial and heritage destination that preserves its social identity while enhancing its urban and service environment and the experience of visitors and shoppers. In addition, the development of Saihat Park, with an investment of SAR 100 million, will create an integrated family and entertainment destination featuring recreational and play areas, green spaces, pedestrian paths, family seating areas, and supporting facilities. The projects contribute to developing municipal assets, creating urban, tourism, and commercial destinations, enhancing revenue sustainability, and expanding opportunities for private-sector participation.

The launch further included two community participation initiatives with total investments of SAR 8.5 million: the development of Saihat Roundabout, valued at SAR 5 million and covering an area of 10,500 square meters, and the establishment of Craftsmen Park, valued at SAR 3.5 million and covering an area of 3,000 square meters.
