His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Eastern Province Traffic Safety Committee, launched today, Tuesday, at his office at the Governorate’s headquarters, the ninth edition of the Eastern Province Ideal Driver Award.
His Royal Highness emphasized that traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires coordinated efforts among relevant entities to raise awareness among road users. He highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to enhance traffic safety and encouraging all categories of road users to comply with traffic laws and regulations, contributing to reducing traffic accidents and improving safety levels on the region’s roads.
Abdullah bin Saad Al-Rajhi, Secretary-General of the Eastern Province Traffic Safety Committee, explained that the award continues to develop its programs and categories in line with changing patterns of road use, enhancing its impact on raising awareness and improving traffic behavior. He noted that the ninth edition builds on the successes achieved in previous editions, with the Traffic Violators and Motorcycle categories continuing this year.
These categories reinforce compliance with traffic regulations while providing traffic violators with a new opportunity to improve their driving behavior. They also enable the award to reach a broader segment of road users in line with evolving mobility patterns, further expanding its inclusivity across different road-user groups. Al-Rajhi emphasized that the Traffic Violators category has helped broaden the award’s concept, making it a tool for encouraging positive behavior alongside recognizing committed and responsible drivers.
Al-Rajhi added that the Award Committee, in cooperation with Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, is conducting a study to evaluate the award and measure its actual impact on changing participants’ behavior. The study aims to support the development of the award’s mechanisms, enhance its effectiveness, and sustain its impact in promoting traffic safety.
