His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, received the presidents of public universities affiliated with the Ministry of Education in the Eastern Province at the Governorate’s headquarters to review preparations for the start of the new academic year 1448 AH.
His Royal Highness emphasized the support and attention the education sector receives from the wise leadership, may Allah support it. He highlighted the outstanding achievements and international results attained by Saudi men and women, particularly in the Eastern Province, reflecting the quality of educational outcomes and the Kingdom’s commitment to developing the education system. His Royal Highness noted that education is a fundamental pillar in developing people and essential to keeping pace with rapid changes and developments. He wished male and female students a successful academic year filled with hard work, dedication, achievement, and excellence, and expressed his hopes that they would succeed in their educational journeys, achieve their aspirations, and serve their nation.
Dr. Fahad bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, President of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, delivered a speech outlining the university’s preparations to complete all readiness requirements for the new academic year through an institutional monitoring and verification framework that ensures service efficiency and coordination of roles. He noted that academic plans and scheduling had been completed and learning environments prepared across health, engineering, scientific, and humanities disciplines. Classrooms, laboratories, educational facilities, e-learning systems, and digital infrastructure are also ready. The university has admitted 5,780 new students, including 1,760 male students and 4,020 female students.
The Academic Medical City has also completed preparations at its hospitals and healthcare centers to ensure the readiness of education and clinical training environments and the continued efficiency of healthcare, educational, and training services. The university has further prepared comprehensive orientation programs to welcome new students and organized introductory sessions to familiarize them with academic regulations and educational, training, and development opportunities. These efforts aim to facilitate their transition to university life, strengthen their academic and social integration, and enable them to begin their university journey with awareness, confidence, and readiness.
Dr. Muhanna bin Abdullah Al-Dalami, Acting President of King Faisal University, affirmed that the university has completed comprehensive preparations to welcome its male and female students for the 1448 AH academic year, ensuring an effective academic start and providing a safe and stimulating university environment that enhances the quality of students’ educational experience from day one.
Academically, the university has continued to expand educational opportunities across bachelor’s, diploma, and postgraduate programs. The university currently has approximately 40,000 students enrolled across these levels, reflecting growing demand for its programs and distinguished educational outcomes. The university has also placed particular emphasis on new students by preparing general orientation programs supervised by the Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs, introducing students to the university environment, regulations, services, and academic pathways. In addition, specialized orientation programs are being delivered by the university’s colleges according to the nature of their programs and disciplines, helping students transition smoothly into university life and engage actively in it.
Dr. Khalid bin Bani Al-Harbi, President of University of Hafr Al Batin, explained that the university has completed a comprehensive system of academic, operational, service, and digital preparations to create a safe and stimulating university environment and enhance the efficiency of colleges, facilities, and services, ensuring a smooth and effective academic start. He noted that the university has admitted more than 5,000 students this year.
He added that the “Rowad 13” program is part of the university’s preparations to welcome and orient new students through three tracks: digital orientation; in-person familiarization with colleges, facilities, and services; and an empowerment track offering workshops and activities designed to support academic and personal skills. These efforts enhance student engagement and help them build a comprehensive university experience within an institutional framework focused on improving the beneficiary experience, measuring satisfaction levels, and responding to students’ needs.
